It was with great pride on a perfect Apollo Bay afternoon on the 18th of March, 2012 that the Star of the Sea Guest House was officially re-opened by Sr. Berenice Kerr, Sisters of Mercy Leader in the Southern B Community.
The occasion was marked as well by the presence of the Sisters of Mercy in the Apollo Bay region for 50 years. Many of the Sisters and community friends gathered to celebrate this auspicious occasion.
The brief for us was to upgrade the Guest House in Apollo Bay for the Sisters of Mercy, Ballarat. The Guest House is situated in Noel Street on a rise on the Southern side of the town. It has for many years accommodated the Mercy Sisters wishing to have a break/retreat at the seaside. With the passing of time this beautiful art deco building no longer complied with current regulations. The works provided modernising the facilities whilst keeping the art deco facade, incorporating 12 bedrooms, 6 ensuites, kitchen, dining, lounge, disabled access, games room and carpark.
We at WMFlynn would like to thank the Sisters of Mercy for being such enthusiastic and cheerful clients and know that the Sisters will once again be able to enjoy this private tranquil environment to take some well earned rest.
